Pink Elln - The Beginning. All tracks recorded by Tobias Freund from 1984 to 1988. I made my first foray into music in 1980, using analogue equipment like the Korg MS-20 synth and the seminal Roland TR 808 drum machine. Experimenting in groups like Vo Ese and Hypnobeat, I contributed to Germany's vibrant underground cassette scene. In 1984, I started to produce music and Super 8 movies as a solo artist under the Pink Elln alias, followed by a first release on the Touch label. Now I decided to open the archives of my musical studies.

Pink Elln - The Beginning Throughout the '80s and '90s, Tobias Freund was immersed in the DIY culture of the Frankfurt underground. Nowadays Freund is known for his house and techno works as tobias. and his regular collaborations with Max Loderbauer, but through the '90s he recorded primarily as Pink Elln, and in Sieg Über Die Sonne with Dandy Jack. The first proper Pink Elln release, co-produced with Atom Heart, appeared in 1993 on the seminal Frankfurt label Ongaku Musik, but the recordings under this guise reach much further back.
