Allegretto quasi andantino. 3. III. Allegro molto vivace. Sonata for violin & piano No. 3 in C minor, Op. 45. 4. I. Allegro molto ed appassionato.
It is impossible to say how many flute sonatas were composed by George Frideric Handel, but the correct number is somewhere between none and eight. There are many reasons for the confusion: some of the sonatas were originally written for other instruments, some have uncertain authenticity, some contain borrowings from other Handel works, and some were published (in an altered form) without Handel's knowledge

It’s hard to keep up with the discography, not least in terms of Japanese CD reissues, but I’m not aware that Elman’s Handel Sonata recordings have been reissued in over fifty years. He made them in 1949 for Victor and they were consolidated in a set (WDM 1590, later LM 1183) that few will have heard. Though he was past his best, most glowing years, Elman still had a strong following and these echt Romantic performances will satisfy many.
But Elman also performed and recorded with Josef Bonime, Carroll Hollister, Wolfgang Rosé and others, and from 1950, his steady accompanist and recital partner was Joseph Seiger. He also briefly performed and made recordings with the Mischa Elman String Quartet. Elman died in his apartment on April 5, 1967 in Manhattan, New York City, a few hours after completing a rehearsal with Seiger. He is buried in the Westchester Hills Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. Retrieved 2015-01-14. Mischa Elman, the Russianborn violin virtuoso who was the idol of concert audiences for more than 60 years, died yesterday afternoon of a heart attack in his duplex apartment at 101 Central Park West. He was 76 years old. ^ "Miecio.
Handel: Sonatas for Violin & Basso Continuo. The Brook Street Band. Long ago, Handel's Op. 1 Sonatas ceased to work their magic for me. It has taken an inspirational recording such as this to bring about a reappraisal. And for many other listeners too, I think, this recording will prove a revelation. We get all these, plus three 'rejected' violin sonatas, whose ascription to Handel may now be doubted, but not their outstanding musical quality. In his insert notes Manze tells the story of how the Italian violinist Francesco Geminiani was summoned to play before the King and chose Handel as his accompanist from heaven.
