a very strange release for this serious label ! This is more Pop oriented ; but after the first surprise you can actually find 2 outstanding songs - La Angel is dominated by some exquisite Flamenco-Guitar work. Outstanding - nearly unbelievable - the Flipsde is even more astonishing - a female singer that sounds like any other decent group from day-time radio ; just to lead into some serious broken beats programming.
Angel is the first album by the rock band Angel. Tower", the keyboard-heavy opening track, was used widely during the late 1970s and early 1980s by album rock radio stations in the USA for various advertising purposes. The track is also on K-SHE radio's Classic List. This album can be seen as representing the band's early progressive roots, with Helluva Band seeing the group starting to move towards an increasingly hard rock-oriented sound. Tracks 6-8 segue to form a 10-minute mini suite.

Duality is a collaborative album by Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke released in 1998. It was Lisa Gerrard's second post-Dead Can Dance album after The Mirror Pool from 1995. Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry released their last album in 1996 and had officially disbanded Dead Can Dance earlier in 1998. The beginning of the song "Shadow Magnet" influenced, in part, the music at the beginning of the Gladiator soundtrack (music by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard).

This particular outing, a duo effort with Pieter Bourke, is as strong as any in her prodigious career, whether under her own banner or as one half of the legendary Dead Can Dance. An overture of spiritual aspiration, it is ironically the least engaging and/or ethereal track on the album, to my ears anyway. Nevertheless, it is Lisa Gerrard and as such is still great. Simply put, there are no two ways about it: "Duality" is a must-have for any fan, not only of Lisa Gerrard, but art in general.
