Symphonic Wind Ensemble. The WSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble is comprised of finest wind and percussion players in the entire university. The ensemble is committed to performing the finest wind band repertoire and is constantly seeking to perform newly commissioned works by today’s finest composers. Like all WSU ensembles, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble provides rehearsal and performance experiences that will assist students in their preparation for careers as performers, teachers, composers and lifelong practitioners of music.

Timothy Salzman is in his 32nd year at the University of Washington where he serves as Professor of Music/Director of Concert Bands, is conductor of the University Wind Ensemble and teaches students enrolled in the graduate instrumental conducting program. Former graduate wind conducting students of Professor Salzman have obtained positions at fifty-five universities and colleges throughout the United States. Prior to his appointment at the UW he served for four years as Director of Bands at Montana State University where he founded the MSU Wind Ensemble.
Bryan Hall is a prominent building in the historic campus core of Washington State University in Pullman, WA. Named for former WSU president Enoch A. Bryan, it is easily distinguished by its clock tower and is currently home to WSU’s Thomas Foley Institute, an auditorium and workshop used by the School of Music for musical theatre and opera productions, along with offices for WSU Global Learning and WSU International Programs.

The Keystone Wind Ensemble is a concert band comprised of approximately 50 woodwind, brass and percussion players, under the direction of Jack Stamp. The Keystone Wind Ensemble is sponsored by Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and all members have a direct affiliation with the university as alumni, students, faculty or administrators. The ensemble, created in 1992, was formed for the express purpose of recording new and more traditional works from the concert band repertoire for national release on compact disc.
The Wind Symphony is the premier woodwind, brass, and percussion ensemble at James Madison University. With an active performance schedule, the Wind Symphony is committed to performing the great works of the wind band’s core repertoire while also exploring the best of contemporary composition. In addition to on-campus concerts the Wind Symphony recently performed for the 2015 National Conference of the College Band Directors Association (CBDNA) in Nashville, TN, and the VMEA In-Service Conferences in 2015 and 2011. Prior to that the Wind Symphony has performed at CBDNA regional conventions in New Orleans, Charlotte, Williamsburg, and Greensboro, plus numerous performances for the VMEA State Conference. They have also performed at the Kennedy Center in 1987 and 2007.

Marcellus Brown came to Boise State University in 1989 as Director of Band Organizations and Professor of Trumpet. Presently, he is the Director of the University Symphonic Winds and the Treasure Valley Concert Band. The University Symphonic Winds has been recognized as one of the outstanding concert groups in the Northwest and has been selected to perform at numerous state and regional clinics and conventions. Mr. Brown is also the founder of the Idaho Youth Wind Symphony and he is the conductor of the Idaho Youth Wind Symphony Senior Ensemble.
