I believe this is another Beach Boys' single with no involvement by Brian Wilson. The Beach Boys are famous for 'owning' other people's songs. 'Do You Wanna Dance?', 'Barbara Ann' and 'Hushabye' come to mind. They don't steal Huddie's 'Cottonfields', but it's a pleasantly realized version of the classic.Bruce Johnston's 'The Nearest Faraway Place' reminded me on my last listen that perhaps he was attempting a Brian Wilson 'Let's Go Away For Awhile' anthem. The music never approaches the cleverness of the Wilson tune, but it's a pretty little instrumental and Johnston was a perfect fit as a 'stand by' Beach Boy.

There is a release which has a picture sleeve. It was issued by Capitol records in the UK and has the catalogue number CL 16064. The centre labels are paper and have a red background with black text. The date on the labels is 1970. The centre is the 4 prong push-out style.
