Steven Lugerner did a phenomenal job of channeling Mr McLean's sound. Love horn players and Steve does it so well playing alto saxophone with JJ Kirkpatrick on trumpet. Piano, bass and drums are all excellent and round out the sound. Vyacheslav Potapov (VP).
Jackie McLean played alto saxophone on 'Redd's Blues', a Freddie Redd album for Blue Note Records in 1961. Redd is an American hard-bop pianist and composer, who wrote the music to accompany 'The Connection' (1959), a play by Jack Gelber. Redd's Blues Releases. Redd's Blues didn't make it to LP until 1988 and CD until 2002 and that's a tip-off. It's a generic Blue Note disc, journeyman in the sense of not offering any great revelation, no undiscovered.
