Instead of providing a barrage of music to enhance this war epic's action scenes, Nick Glennie-Smith chose a more moving, elegiac approach that effectively underscores the emotions and intensity of the characters. Occasional military-style percussion cadences act as reminders of the film's setting, while a terrific, almost alien soundscape appears in "NVA Base Camp," lending further depth to the score. The CD features several standout solo instrumental passages, particularly in the tracks "Telegrams" and "Photo Montage,".

Almost Human (from the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Blade Runner 2049) by Lauren Daigle. This past weekend I saw "Blade Runner 2049" in the theater (more on that later). If you have seen the original Blade Runner movie (released in 1982), you know that it features a brilliant electronic score, courtesy of the legendary Vangelis. The question was whether Vangelis would return for the long awaited sequel. As it turns out, he did not. In his stead, the producers engaged not one but two composers who know each other well: Hans Zimmer & Benjamin Wallfisch. They have previously also combined for the score to "Hidden Figures" last year.
