ok, so this is the soundtrack for the requiem of a dream movie (the movie is really good, nothing bad to say about it) but the soundtrack is in the weird side.....really weird side. you will feel uncomfortable the whole time you listen to this but at the end, your first reaction will be WTF i just listen? you will put back the CD in your collection and leave it there for a while before going backto conclude it's good but you won't listen to it often, the remixed album, is a complete different universe (go for the remixed one instead)
Nern
anyone have this vinyl? pvt please. . . . .
Umrdana
Yes i Got it ans he is absolutly fabolous .. I hope you find it ..
in waiting
Finally got around to spinning this. Running it on a 1200 with an ortofon blue through Klipsch speakers. Sounds phenomenal. Always take negative reviews with a grain of salt if they don't list how they are listening to something. They might have a shitty cart or some other issue causing problems.
Jeronashe
My copy sounds quite good, and I'm not listening on high-end gear (mid-end, maybe). I wouldn't call this a particularly great pressing, but the music is well-mastered, while the vinyl is reasonably quiet and clean. That said, it pales next to Nonesuch's best vinyl releases, such as the 2009 reissue of Brian Eno & David Byrne's My Life in the Bush of Ghosts and the 2015 edition of Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians. Perhaps the RSD copies were worse than those pressed subsequently?
Skilkancar
That might be true, but pressing complaints are common in todays vinyl world. Some expensive equipment is better at avoiding superficial noise as well, making it less valid of a review. By avoiding the problem you arnt giving a fair representation, especially since most people dont have such equipment. Do you have any knowledge to share about this?
Saimath
Shit pressing, low quality vinyl, terrible cover art, total rush job. And the prices were insane when it came out, it was almost painful to watch all these wannabe nerds creaming their pants at the idea of getting raped for a crappy vinyl. Look at the prices now, much more reflective of the actual quality of this release. This is what happens when vinyl falls in the hands of hipsters.
Uyehuguita
Lol, record collecting has always belonged to abject nerds & insufferable hipsters. But like I said in response to ThunderPantz, my copy sounds quite good. I just bought it new off the Nonesuch site, so maybe current pressings are better than the original RSD batch? Whatever the case, I do agree that the art & design are piss-poor.
Broadraven
Low quality vinyl? Not my copy! ...but the rest you say is true.
Stick
Can anyone confirm if there's any difference between the RSD and non-RSD versions? I'm guessing not.
Melipra
Yeah, my vinyl's kind of noisy after a VPI cleaning. Not terrible, but this album has a lot of quiet passages which make it more noticeable. Still sounds pretty good overall, IMO.
Kaghma
Does anyone have sound issues with this one ? mine has a constant static surface noise (not so loud, but it's there) mostly on A side and in some parts of side B.
Mushicage
SideEffekts Does anyone have sound issues with this one ? mine has a constant static surface noise (not so loud, but it's there) mostly on A side and in some parts of side B. Bad press or static record could be an explanation.
Pipet
Available from Nonesuch website for $25 right now plus shipping
Unnis
It's actually the exact version, catalog number and all. Nonesuch kinda screwed over everyone who waited in line on RSD.
Ttyr
What makes you sure that it's not the Ltd RSD version?"This first-ever vinyl edition of Clint Mansell's haunting score to Darren Aronofsky's 2000 film Requiem for a Dream, performed by Kronos Quartet, was first released for Record Store Day 2016." -- via Nonesuch store
Sadaron above the Gods
that wouldn't be the Ltd RSD version though. That Nonesuch repress for $25 should have it's own entry. Cant find the catalog number though.
JoJolar
There's still a bunch of copies at Amoeba Hollywood as of 4/30/2016...
Bad Sunny
Sounds perfect to me, beautiful packaging art. Such a shame about the spelling errors on the sleeves, but ultimately i
Delaath
... Bought it for the music! Dunno why my original got cut off
Xcorn
I might be upset if I was Marlon Wayans. How could anyone disregard such an obvious misprint? They misspelled the actor's name in the credits on the back cover. And what on earth is a "string quartel"? [shaking head] Someone must've been in quite a rush to release this record without proper editing. Very sloppy. I hope what's inside is not compromised.
Whitescar
It is available now from hhv in Germany for 39,95 € . http://www.hhv.de/shop/en/item/clint-mansell-and-kronos-quartet-requiem-for-a-dream-soundtrack-474631?p=umXsxe

Mr_Mix
One insert, no problems with any of the platters for me (A -> D). Sounds amazing!
Arar
I am also having an issue with the download URL. Also received duplicate copies of the insert
Shaktit
The download URL is now working...just verified :)Haven't played the LP's yet.
Yozshujind
Really fed up with the flippers.Missed out on a copy of this yesterday. Anyone know if it will get repress? It seems madness to do a limited run on a score when people have been desperate for a vinyl release for years.
great ant
I know there are still more copies making it to market. Nonesuch has not sold out yet. I would wait until at least this Saturday when it can made available online at legitimate record shops.
Ximinon
theres a shop in new orleans. Skullys records. There have a few copies left for $32.99 call them up
Corgustari
Coming soon to Juno in the UK (Worldwide shipping). Hit the "Email me when released" notifier button. You'll give the flippers a finger and get your copy at retail price.
GoodBuyMyFriends
With such a large 'limited edition' of 5,000 I'd simply wait a few weeks and you'll notice the prices drop substantially until they're not much different from the initial retail price.
Geny
Record two was warped. Playable, sounds fine, labels are correct.
Saithinin
So I take it that not everyone has issues with duplicate sides or label issues?
Purebinder
My copy is fine, no duplicates or warping. For being such a large-ish run it was hard to find. I went to three different record stores and only found one. My download code though is having the same issues as everyone else. I would love to listen to this soundtrack as I am running. I'm sure they will get that fixed though.
Androrim
mines also good, but i dont have a DC card. but i dont really care about that. :o)
Atineda
mine has duplicate side3-4. major bummer and shop had none left to swap... :(
xander
Cool. I haven't gotten mine yet, had to get one from eBay, but got it for under $50 shipped so I'm ok with that. I just hope it's all correct.
Malaris
No problems, here. So there are good copies out there. But I do sympathize with you.
Peras
I just checked mine and everything looks to be correct.
Burirus
My copy seems to be correct. Matrix runouts are all unique to each side too.
Vonalij
Have the same problems with DC and wrote an mail to Nonesuch: http://www.nonesuch.com/journal/record-store-day-emmylou-harris-clint-mansell-kronos-quartet-vinyl-releases-2016-04-15
NI_Rak
The download code works now. Have to say: everything is fine.
Beanisend
Impressive sound, dead quiet pressing, and beautiful artwork. A real RSD16 winner.
Fecage
On the side 2 I have the sticker of the album hotel California by The Eagles, enyone else?
Umor
Someone on a forum said they had two of Discs 3/4 in their package. Maybe there are some serious quality issues with this release?
Moralsa
Anyone else having issues with the included download? The web address on the card doesn't work?
Shliffiana
Try this link instead: http://redemptions.warnermusic.com/requiemforadream - however my code still did not work on this page!

Felolune
My number one of my wantlist for the RSD !
Nalmergas
The icy sadness... Sure I'm gonna add this to my collection. And bleed sensitive tears in a nostalgic soundgasm. The needles. Just hoping the wax delivers.
Bladecliff
Comes out on Nonsuch...does that mean it will cost something like 50€?
Rivik
A little bit less… I got it for 30€ in Paris.
Gavirus
Does anyone have the pressing numbers for this? It's a RSD release right?
Nejind
5000 copies of this album have been pressed for the RSD2016
Cordann
Yeah, it's a RSD release (it's why it's supposed to go on sale the 16th). I do not know how many were pressed and neither did the store owner. He only received one.
Steep
repress in vinyl very soon (16 april). I'm very excited!!
Lightseeker
Same here. I hope I'll get one copy next week!
Raelin
This really needs a vinyl pressing!
Rexfire
There'll be one sold on 16th April - Record Store Day :) Will be about 40 €.
Gianni_Giant
Perhaps one of the most iconic scores of all time.
Silly Dog
The music makes the movie, and the soundtrack is excellent. There are a few different themes within this CD, and they are interspersed within 3 "seasons" or "acts" if you will. In this sense, this release is sort of like a modern-day opera. However, don't be fooled by that label (if you don't like opera). If you've seen the movie, you know how the music adds to the tragic scenes of the characters. With that said, you will know that the music in here is not happy. It's depressing, nervous, and busy. Mansell and the Kronos Quartet definitely did a great job on melding strings and electronic elements together in different genres of music expressing a full range of human feeling. For the main theme which expresses tragedy, you've got strings in a very traditional approach for a soundtrack. For the tense moments in the film, Mansell uses his electronic equipment effectively in nervous, twitchy IDM that works well as an almost transparent background noise for the film, yet works well standing alone, to complement the other tracks. In the last "act," the Kronos Quartet really shows us some of the most tense and dissonant music ever made for a movie. Dissonant, chaotic, shrill, grating...all of these words can be used to describe the tone of the four string instruments. In the movie, these tracks were used in order to augment and mark the most horrible and sickening parts of the film, and to what effect! These are the tracks that have made an impact on the moviegoers, and these are the tracks that give way to the tragic last two tracks on the CD, which go back to the original themes, completing the work in a catharsis. This CD is the embodiment of tragedy. You have a beginning, a middle, and a catharsis that releases all the tension that has been built up in the course of the music. Does it sound sad? It sounds tragic. Is it good? It's fucking terrific. It may not be suitable for everyday listening, but you have to listen through it once, and appreciate the work that went into this.
Keth
Many soundtracks sound great when mixed with the film but feel emotionally empty when simply played on a CD. Other soundtracks, great soundtracks, are able to stand alone from the film and help you to remember those moments from said flick that grabbed you. Listening to Clint Mansell's score for Darren Aronofsky's drug-addled nightmare "Requiem For A Dream", I still get shivers in my remembering the tragic events of the film via Mansell and the Kronos Quartet's wonderful work.
