Noname - Telephone mp3 download
On Telefone, Noname pours the joy and devastation we glimpsed in her various guest spots with artists like Chance the Rapper, Mick Jenkins, and Saba into a rich, somber, and incredibly intimate album. Chicago's Noname delivers one of this year's most heartwarming and positive mixtapes, backing her earnest rap style with beautifully jazzy instrumentals.
Fatimah Nyeema Warner (born September 18, 1991), better known by her stage name Noname, is an American rapper, poet and record producer. Warner is from the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, where she began rapping and performing slam poetry in 2010. In 2013, she gained wider recognition for her appearance on the track "Lost" from Chance the Rapper's popular mixtape Acid Rap.
On Telefone, Noname poetically ponders the duality of light and dark, juxtaposing tragic descriptions of police brutality and violence with imagery of an inspired, close-knit community. The album pairs playful, jazzy, gospel-tinged production, sometimes with the chime of a marimba or a baby’s laughter, with lyrics that delve into depression, loneliness and, her most-covered topic, death. That’s the type of music I’m trying to make - Noname. Though the cult success of Telefone has earned her interest from record labels, Noname has opted to stay independent – she wants to work at her own pace without some executive breathing down her neck.

Young Chicago rapper delivers on her highly anticipated debut mixtape. by Alejandra Ramirez. I thought I was gon’ write a rap/ I thought I was gone, Noname notes on Freedom (Interlude). Throughout her debut mixtape, Telefone, the Chicago emcee tinkers and toys with verses and rhymes. Her songs echo slam poetry and spoken word without the pretense.
Released July 31, 2016. The album continues the mantra of self-belief and growth she’s been preaching and refines the soulful and gospel elements of her music into a cohesive statement. Noname explained the significance of the name in an interview with The Fader: When I initially created it, I wanted it to feel like a conversation with someone who you have a crush on for the first time. Your first time talking on the phone with someone you really like.
