Sleeping With Ghosts is Placebo’s fourth studio album, released April 1 2003. It was preceded by the single The Bitter End, released 10th of March 2003 and peaked at number 12 on the UK charts, the highest charting single from the record. Four more singles were released: This Picture, Special Needs, English Summer Rain, and the French version of Protect Me From What I Want, titled Protege Moi. The video for Protege Moi was directed by Gasper Noé, and was too sexually explicit to be officially released. Instead, tour footage from their Soulmates Never Die tour was used.
Sleeping with Ghosts Lyrics. Hush It's okay Dry your eye Dry your eye Soulmate dry your eye Dry your eye Soulmate dry your eye Cause soulmates never die. This one world vision Turns us in to compromise What good's religion When it's each other we despise Damn the government Damn their killing Damn their lies.
Sleeping with Ghosts is the fourth album released by European alternative rock band Placebo in 2003. It achieved chart success in the UK, Australia and Europe. This album has been released with the Copy Control protection system in some regions. Album meaning The album has several songs based on a theme of relationships, whether as in relationships that end badly as in The Bitter End, power struggles in relationships (Special Needs) or the idea that some are meant to be eternal soulmates (the title track).
Sleeping with Ghosts is a remarkably level collection of guitar pop, simultaneously less glammy and less pungent than Placebo's earlier stuff. It whooshes by on clockwork beats, precision guitarwork (their way with the dun-dun-dun-dun downstroke makes Interpol sound like a jam band) and purely decorative bits of dissonance. Yet, if not for some Britishisms and Brian Molko's endearingly bratty whine, this could have been Duncan Sheik. The album has two assured rockers ("The Bitter End" and "Plasticine"), two not-bad ballads ("I'll Be Yours" and "Centrefolds") and even a great single called "This Picture", where Molko gets to call his departed lover "forbidden snowflake" and "angelic fruitcake. Which brings us to the genuinely bad news: in these days of stunted complacency on both sides of the Atlantic, it's hard to grumble against artists' newfound political focus.
