I remember years ago having the promo CD of this in a card sleeve, ripping it and noticing the waveforms were all clipped. It might have been different mastering for the promo for loudness. Even on the vinyl and the fact that vinyl partially repairs clipping by analogue dithering, whether this album's masters were clipped or not, the sound is still too bulky, dull and compressed (on a £1k-ish setup, not entry level but not top notch). Definitely pushed too loud, with Ninja Tune aiming for them to be the next Pendulum of their time or something, probably.

This sounds just AMAZING, one of the best sounding vinyl releases I have in my collection. Cannot reccomend it enough for fans of The Qemists. Also, the album is fabulous in itself.

Great album, but BE WARNED: you will need a high-quality setup to play it, as it is quite bass heavy and will pop and skip on cheaper turntables. Tried playing on my $50-brand-new Ion Pure LP and couldn't listen to a single song without serious issues (the needle was literally bouncing with an audible time delay). Not for people with budget setups, but definitely worth it for true audiophiles.

Holy shit! No, wait, let me rephrase that...HOLY SHIT!Not since Kosheen and Pendulum has any d&b band managed to actually put out songs that are more than just a sped-up drum loop and some synths. Songs that actually work as songs, not showcases of how good (or bad, depending on the release) someone can tweak the drum mixer's knobs while totally forgetting about the rest of the track. Apply whichever clichéd description you want - "It blows off the roof", "It rips the dancefloor a new one", whatever - "Join The Q" totally exceeds any of these and raises the bar while ruining speakers all throughout the country.
