Cut-Ups is clearly the work of a band with plenty of muscle and the smarts to know what to do with it, but at the same time these performances pride themselves on dynamics and instrumental interplay over a full-on attack, and SAVAK are a surprisingly subtle proposition, delivering a lean and wiry variety of indie rock with plenty rolling under the. surface. That said, sometimes intelligence wins out over brawn, and SAVAK certainly get their points across with flying colors on Cut-Ups.
