A greatest hits album, sometimes called a "best of" album or a catalog album, is a compilation of songs by a particular artist or band. Most often the track list contains previously released recordings with a high degree of notability. However, to increase the appeal, especially to people who already own the original release, it is common to include remixes or alternate takes of popular songs; sometimes even new material (previously unreleased) will function as bonus tracks.
A greatest hits album is a compilation album of successful, previously released songs by a particular music artist or band. Albums entitled Greatest Hits, or similar titles, listed alphabetically by band name or artist's last name, include: Greatest Hits by 2Pac (1998). Greatest Hits '93–'03 by 311 (2004). Best Of by 50 Cent (2017). Greatest Hits by A Teens (2005). Most Requested Hits by Aaron Carter (2003). Come Get It: The Very Best of Aaron Carter by Aaron Carter (2006).

Actually, in '18, they're probably the most overexposed, hyped band in history, and I'm writing this years after having collected every single album they ever did. I ran out and bought "Innuendo" on the first day, after seeing the video on MTV.
The Byrds' Greatest Hits does an excellent job of chronicling the peak years of their popularity before they went country-rock on 1968's Sweetheart of the Rodeo. Apart from the minor hits "It Won't Be Wrong," "Set You Free This Time," and "Have You Seen Her Face," all of the group's hit singles - from 1965's "Mr. Tambourine Man" to 1967's "My Back Pages" - are included: "All I Really Want to Do," "Turn!
