Nothing But Thieves' second studio album released on the 8th of September, 2017 through American music label Sony Music Entertainment. The concept came alive soon after the band had written and demoed Broken Machine, the 4th track, which became the centerpiece of the album. Lead singer Conor Mason describes it as a metaphor for systems that seem perfect on the surface but cracked underneath, whether that’s mental health, love, religion, or even politics

The vinyl sounds very loud and has sibilance. I listened the album again with my new element and indeed no sibilance. It still sounds load but now also clear.

Nothing But Thieves is the debut studio album by English alternative rock band Nothing but Thieves. It was produced by Julian Emery, with additional production by Jim Irvin, Dominic Craik and Larry Hibbitt, and mixes by Cenzo Townshend and Adam Noble. Nothing But Thieves is one of the more interesting bands to emerge in the past decade, lead vocalist Conor Mason is without a doubt very talented and their songwriting, while not perfect, is definitely of a higher level than some of their peers. Their self-titled debut is a fantastic piece of work for the newcomers, and two years later here we are with Broken Machine. This is not a sophomore slump to put it bluntly, it's exactly what it should've been. It's everything their previous work was but far more ambitious and experimental.
