If you don't have those three studio albums, I would certainly not start with these compilations before getting those original albums. Most of the songs here are typical of this era of Asia and as such are moderately interesting.
Anthology is a compilation by Asia highlighting the John Payne era up to 1997. Re-recordings of John Wetton-era material were prompted by a lawsuit filed by Wetton when the original versions were used on the initial release in Japan. The track sequencing and style isn't wildly erratic and could possibly make for a proper album with a bit of fine tweaking. It's definitely weighted more toward the pop sensibilities of the group as opposed to their prog rock roots, but that side of the band pops up here and there in small subtle doses. Archiva Vol. 1 is a collection of outtakes and previously unreleased tracks by progressive rock band Asia. The band had previously completed work on the album Arena in 1995. When they returned to their studio in 1996 they found that a pipe had burst and had ruined thousands of pounds worth of equipment. Despite this a large number of unreleased tracks which had failed to make the previous three albums survived and were quickly considered for a new Asia release. I Believe" is not the same track as on the Asia album Omega.

The volume one, designated as Archiva 1, was released on 3 September 1996 by Resurgence. In late 1995, Asia had completed work on their sixth studio album, Arena.
Asia's second volume of Archiva is not near as good as the first one. Vol. 1 had a lot more songs that were good and only a couple that were bad. Vol 2 has 3 good songs OBSESSION, RIGHT TO CRY & MOON UNDER WATER. Rest of the songs are average or below. Production this time seems rushed, and a lot of the song do not have the Asia feel to them. Big complaint is that this time you can see the cover, BUT it's the same cover as Vol 1, juet with Vol 2 on it instead. The album ending instrumental "Armenia" is great. Archiva Vol. 2 is much better than the first Archiva volume. Worth a listen, there are some great songs on here.
