This is definitely the most sophisticated ABBA album. That just isn't up to question. With songs like "I Let the Music Speak"- which is just so deep and almost haunting- and "The Day Before You Came" (this one makes me shiver), it's just beautiful. The lyrics are more meaningful than many others (cough Dancing Queen cough), and many focus on political issues rather than romance ("Soldiers", "The Visitors", et. It's obvious, by listening to this album, that ABBA was taking advantage of their experience in the music industry . Thank You For The Music", "I Wonder", and the manic "I'm A Marionette", which features an exceptional guitar bridge are an a mazing mini-musical.
The ranking is determined by reverse scoring ABBA's original single releases from the pop and rock charts in 17 countries. 100 points were assigned for a number one chart position, 99 points for number two and so on, with a bonus 20 points awarded for each number on. The dates attached to each track identify the year the single peaked in most countries, NOT the year it was produced or the album it appeared on. For example, King Kong Song appeared on the 1974 album "Waterloo", but it charted in Australia and Sweden at the height of the band's popularity, in 1977
ABBA - "Money Money Money". ABBA got their Fiddler on the Roof on for this super-fun 1976 single where the listener can hear the group getting audibly playlful with their delivery and shouting about if only, "They had a lot of money!" 9. ABBA - "Waterloo". One of the best ABBA songs that represented the underlying love stories circling through the quartet's time together, "One of Us" was written by Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson and inspired by their divorces to their band mates Faltskog and Lyngstad The template would set the stage for future spooky-pop hits (Michael Jackson's "Thriller," anyone?) and the song's influence would later be felt with a brilliant sample in Madonna's "Hung Up," the lead single off her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor. 2. ABBA - "Take a Chance on Me".
