Smooth as Silk? George Pallikaris (better known as tech-house star G-Pal) releases an ambient solo album on the ever-interesting label Elektrolux. And, indeed, the tracks are smooth and glide easily through the ears. “Seaside” screams “play me at Ibiza!” while “Electroula” has an electro-type rhythm over the sweet synths that marks the rest of the album. There’s a variety of sounds that are used: “Being With You” throws in some cut-up vocals and light breaks; “Insearch Of” starts off with some scratches; “Helen” is a short interlude with enough beauty to have warranted a longer track. Although it’s nice enough overall, it also wears thin rather quickly. Sort of like silk itself, yes?
